It could be a commuting nightmare, with major construction work underway near the Lincoln Tunnel.
Work on Route 495 began on Friday night, but Monday morning is the first time drivers will face it during a weekday rush hour. One lane is closed in each direction, with construction expected to continue for more than two years.
Officials have urged commuters to carpool or find another way into New York City. However, this comes at a time when NJ Transit is facing problems of its own. The railroad has been plagued with cancellations and delays because of an engineer shortage.
Construction isn’t expected to be complete until 2021.
