Bronx Bodega Reportedly Sold After Teen’s Murder

A Bronx bodega where a teenager was killed has reportedly been sold and will reopen with a new owner.

Pix11 reports the new owners were at the Cruz and Chiky Grocery store on East 183rd Street and Bathgate Avenue on Wednesday.  The bodega has been closed since June 20th when Lesandro Guzman-Feliz was stabbed to death.

Some people in the neighborhood believe the bodega should remain closed.

"No.  They should do something else, like something for the kids," one woman told WOR's Alice Stockton-Rossini.

Video shows the 15-year-old nicknamed Junior trying to escape from members of the Trinitarios gang.  They dragged him outside and the teen dies before he made it to St. Barnabas Hospital.

In the aftermath of the deadly stabbing, many in the community blamed the bodega owner for not helping Junior.  The owner claimed he called 911 and tried to protect the teenager.

"I always ask people, 'If you were in that situation how would you react?"one man said.  "You know I think the whole process was about three minutes and it's just sad."

Junior was respected in the community and friends said he wanted to become an NYPD officer.

A dozen suspected gang members have been arrested in connection with the murder.
