Mets sent Jacob deGrom to the hill, but before that our “Immortal Chris Majkowski” threw out the ceremonial first pitch!
Maj’s pitch was high and wide but he didn’t bounce it.
Jacob deGrom was dominant. He pitched 8 Shutout innings for the Mets, 113 pitches and no runs and 7 Ks!
The problem? Mets couldn’t solve Vince Velasquez who threw six innings of two hit scoreless ball as well and the game was scoreless heading to the bottom of the 8th.
Mets had two on with two out in the bottom of the 8th, but Michael Conforto grounded out into the shift, and the inning, and Jacob deGrom’s chance for a win was done.
We headed to the bottom of the 10th inning with the game still scoreless. Amed Rosario doubled and Jose Reyes walked.
Two on, Two out. Brandon Nimmo stroked a 3 run home run deep into the night and the Mets had a 3-0 walkoff win in the 10th.
