Murdered NYPD Officer Remembered

A New York City police officer murdered one year ago is being remembered on Thursday in the Bronx.

Miosotis Familia was shot in the head and killed on the morning of July 5, 2017 while sitting in a mobile command center on East 183rd Street.  The gunman, Alexander Bonds, was shot and killed by responding officers.

A candlelight vigil was held to remember Familia early Thursday morning.  The street outside the police stationhouse where she worked is also being renamed in her honor.

The 48-year-old Familia was a mother of three.
