- Mets got out early on Sunday.
- Jay Bruce put the Mets on top in the first with an RBI Single
- Tomas Nido added an RBI Single in the second to make it 2-0
- Adrian Gonzalez, the longtime Padre, got some revenge against his old team with a two RBI double in the 3rd and the Mets had a 4-0 lead.
- Yoenis Cepsedes left the game in the third inning with a sore left thumb he hurt making a slide into third base, more testing when they get back to NY.
- Wheeler worked out of trouble in the first inning but gave up two runs in the third on a Freddy Galvis single, and it was a two run game after three. He would complete 5 innings, giving up two runs while striking out 9.
- Adrian Gonzalez made sure that lead stuck when he stroked a three run home run to the opposite field in the 7th to make it 7-2, a 5 RBI game.
- Asdrubal Cabrera tacked on two more runs with an RBI single in the 7th as well and the rout was on, 9-2 Mets.
- Todd Frazier got his name in on the action too with a two run home run in the top of the 8th and it was 11-2 NY.
- Jose Reyes stroked a solo shot next, 12-2 New York.
- Michael Conforto singled in a run to make it 13-2 Mets
- Brandon Nimmo, who came in for Cespedes, singled in a run and the Mets had their second straight 5 run inning, Mets 14- San Diego 2.
- Mets are flying back east, will take Monday off and start a 6 game homestand. First up, the Braves on Tuesday, first pitch 7:10, Mets on Deck 6:05. Tonight, Sal Licata is in for Pete in the Sports Zone.
