Prisoner Escapes ICE Custody at JFK

A man being transported by federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials escaped custody on Tuesday night.

The unidentified man was being escorted at JFK Airport in Terminal 4 around 8:30 p.m. when he somehow escaped.  Surveillance video showed the man fleeing the airport in a taxi.

The Daily News reports the man has been described as a “violent deportee.”  He had previously been arrested on a weapons charge.

A search continues for the man.
