A 37-year-old ordained Roman Catholic priest has been indicted by a grand jury for criminal sexual contact and child endangerment for reaching under the skirt of a 13-year-old girl and grabbing her behind as she walked down the street with three friends.
Surveillance video show’s reverend Nurek walk up behind four young girls and suddenly grab the victim’s bottom before taking off down the street.
Local police were called and they found the man in the video just blocks away from the crime scene.
According to court papers, Reverend Marcin Nurek touched the girl’s buttock under her skirt and over her underwear and told her she was sexy before running off.
Nurek, an immigrant from Poland, arrived in the U.S. in March 2015, and was ordained into the priesthood in July. He was scheduled to begin his assignment at St. Catherine of Siena this month; his assignment has since been terminated.
The Diocese of Paterson said Father Nurek completed proper conduct with children training and passed his international criminal background check.
Nurek’s lawyer declined to comment on the indictment.
