Police Hunt For Bus Assailants

Add getting attacked by a crazed couple wielding a screwdriver and an umbrella to the woes of traveling on and driving a city bus.

Police are on the hunt for a man and woman who started a ruckus on bus BX29 near the Bruckner Expressway and the Pelham Parkway.

The first incident started with an argument between the woman suspect and another female passenger. Witnesses say the two women started screaming at each other when out of the blue, the wanted female pulled a screwdriver from her pocket and bopped the victim over the head.

The driver saw the assault and attempted to pull the bus over to assist his passenger but before the driver could stop the bus the male assailant grabbed the victim by the hair and dragged her toward the door.

The male attacker ordered the bus driver to open the door but the driver refused which caused the angry suspect to release the woman he was dragging by the hair and turn his rage on the driver.

The MTA driver was beaten with an umbrella several times across the head and neck before he gave into the now screaming attacker's orders and opened the bus door.

The couple ran from the bus and are still being sought by the police.

The bus driver and the female victim were taken to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment.

The police ask anyone with information on the two attackers to call the NYC Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS
