Governor Phil Murphy has ordered an audit of NJ Transit, keeping a promise to conduct a top-to-bottom review of the agency.
“I have made it clear that we will not accept business as usual at NJ Transit. Today, we begin the process of rebuilding the agency from the ground up,” Murphy said.
He said the audit will include a review of NJ Transit’s finances, its leadership, its hiring process and customer service. It will also look at the relationship with Amtrak and its implementation of Positive Train Control.
"We need to get our transportation running smoothly and make sure that people can get around our state and get to and from work without worrying about a train derailment or delay,” Murphy said.
