Jerry Mercado's 10 days on the lamb came to an end when he was identified and recaptured at a Chevron gas station in Georgia yesterday.
Mercado was serving time on a burglary charge in Connecticut's Carl Robinson Correctional Facility until he pulled a disappearing act last week.
The Connecticut Violent Fugitive Task-force put the word out on Mercado's escape and warned authorities that he may have been heading south via mass transit.
After he is extradited from Georgia, Mercado's new home will be The Northern Correctional Institution in Connecticut, which boasts the states highest level of supervised incarceration.
