Three children were among four people killed when a fire broke out in Brooklyn early Monday morning.
The fire tore through a three-story home on East 14th Street in Sheepshead Bay around 2:30 a.m.
A 40-year-old woman was killed, along with her 11, 7 and 3-year-old children. The father and two other children suffered critical injuries. Two other children suffered less serious injuries.
“This is a terrible tragedy, not just for this community but for our city and at this time of year when these things strike it just tears your heart out,” FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro said.
The fire was declared under control around 4:30 a.m. There’s no word on the cause.
"Every room in this house is severely damaged from fire," Nigro said.
