Pedestrians Hurt in Road Rage Crash in Lower Manhattan

NYPD says several pedestrians were sent to the hospital and one person is in custody after a pair of road rage-fueled collisions in Lower Manhattan Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred at about 1:15 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Street and Broadway.

A Lincoln Continental reportedly hit a Ford Explorer, which then rear-ended a Mercedes SUV, reports Fox 5 New York

Officials say the Lincoln kept driving after making contact with the Explorer, proceeding almost a full block before hitting the Mercedes and stopping on the sidewalk.

The incident reportedly started as a dispute between two livery cab drivers.

A total of six people were taken to the hospital, including three pedestrians, one cyclist and two drivers.

The injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver of the Lincoln was taken into custody. The driver's identity was not immediately released.

Police advised people to avoid the area due to congestion.
