The Brooklyn Nets are responding, after Mayor Bill de Blasio criticized the team during a town hall event.
De Blasio was in Queens when he received a question from a man wearing a Nets jacket.”
“This Brooklyn Nets idea hasn’t been working out the way it was planned, so I admire you for sticking with them,” de Blasio said.
The questioner defended wearing the jacket, saying he was from Brooklyn, to which the mayor responded “I’m from Brooklyn too.”
The Nets weren’t happy being called out by the mayor though and responded on Twitter.
“Hello, @NYCMayor. From one Brooklynite to another, you should know that we always have each other’s backs. Like all of NYC, we’re always grinding to get better. If you want to see some real grit, our doors are always open,” the Nets tweeted.
