Schumer: “Grinch Bots” Buying Popular Toys

Senator Chuck Schumer says computer programs are buying popular holiday toys so that they can be resold for big prices online.

The cyberbots have long been used for buying tickets on the Internet, which are then placed in the secondary market.  Now, Schumer said the same is happening with popular toys.

“Cyberbots, we call them Grinch Bots, are expanding their reach and unfairly scooping up the hottest toys before parents can even click buy,” Schumer said.

He accused these bots of stealing Christmas from New Yorkers.  Schumer is calling on the retail industry to prevent the bots from buying the toys and then reselling them.
