Edwin Harte, a frequent dweller of the 6 train was arrested for allegedly smashing a rider in the face with a screwdriver during the morning rush hour.
Witnesses say Harte was muttering to himself and hovering over the 70-year-old victim for a few minutes before he attacked. When the seated passenger glanced up from his phone; Harte punched him in the face with the butt-end of the screwdriver.
Harte was arrested by cops from the 17th precinct as he tried to flee the scene.
The elderly victim was taken to New York-Presbyterian Hospital and is listed in stable condition.
