Less than 6 months after the maritime commuter program started, five of the new ferries Mayor de Blasio sunk $325 million dollars into are out of service or being repaired.
The Coast Guard ordered the repairs after three of the boats needed pencil size holes in their hulls patched and welded over.
Anthony Hogrebe from the NYC Economic Development Corporation said the repairs needed are a minor issue and won't cost the city a penny to fix.
The Great Eagle Ferry and the Happy Hauler are being repaired in Nyack. The Owl's Head is being worked on in Tuckahoe, NJ.
