Police have shot and killed a man in the Bronx who stabbed two security guards.
Cops responded to a report of an assault inside a shelter on Hughes Avenue last night. They encountered the suspect holding a 4-inch steak knife and ordered him 20 times to drop the weapon.
“The armed man did not comply and instead stepped towards the officers with the knife displayed in his right hand. At that point, both officers discharged their weapons, striking the suspect multiple times,” Chief of Patrol Terence Monahan said.
The suspect was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The two security guards are hospitalized in serious condition.
The officers were wearing body cameras.
