Murphy, Guadagno Hoping to Be NJ’s Next Governor

Democrat Phil Murphy and Republican Kim Guadagno are vying to become the next governor of New Jersey.

Murphy is a former Goldman Sachs executive who also served as U.S. Ambassador to Germany under former President Barack Obama.  The former president has campaigned for Murphy and this week he received the support of singer Jon Bon Jovi.

Guadagno has been the Lieutenant Governor to Governor Chris Christie for the past eight years.  She has tried to distance herself from her boss, saying this election is about the next four years.

A Quinnipiac University poll out this week shows Murphy with a 53 to 41 percent lead among likely voters.  That’s down from a 20 point lead the Democrat had in an October 25 survey.

Polls are open until 8 p.m.
