It’s election day in New York City with the race for mayor taking center stage.
Mayor Bill de Blasio is hoping for a second term in office, as he squares off with Republican Nicole Malliotakis. Polls show de Blasio with a big lead and on the campaign he’s targeted President Trump more than Malliotakis.
“The danger to New York City isn’t here. It’s 200 miles down I-95,” de Blasio said.
Malliotakis has made quality-of-life and corruption issues a priority. She claims the city has become dirtier and accuses the mayor of putting City Hall up for sale.
“The people across this city are fed up with corruption,” Malliotakis said.
Polls are open until 9 p.m.
