Deborah Munize was awarded $10.5 million dollars by a jury for an accident that cost her a leg back in 2012.
Ms. Munize was sitting at a bus stop when a car owned by Maven Limo Inc. jumped the curb and smashed through the bus shelter leaving the 63-year-old woman badly injured.
Driver Maximo Espinal fled the scene of the crime and was later caught by police. Mr. Espinal was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and served 2 years in jail.
Ms. Munize's lawyer told the court that his client has withstood several surgeries and leads a completely altered life.
