A.G. Sessions To Talk Opioids at JFK Airport

Attorney General Jeff Sessions is expected to speak on Friday at Kennedy Airport about the opioid epidemic in the United States.

His visit to New York City comes just a day after President Trump declared the epidemic a national public health emergency.  Trump said this can be the generation that ends the opioid problem.

“We owe it to our children and to our country to do everything in our power to address this national shame and this human tragedy,” Trump said.

Trump spoke Thursday at the White House, addressing former addicts and family members of those impacted by addiction.  The president also got personal and talked about his brother Fred’s addiction to alcohol.

“He was substantially older and I listened to him and I respected.  But he would constantly tell me, ‘don't drink,’” Trump said.

The president said he’s never had a drink because of his brother’s warning.
