Yankees Win Game 5 of ALCS

The New York Yankees are just one win away from the World Series, after beating the Astros 5 to 0 in Game 5 of the ALCS.

Masahiro Tanaka threw a gem, allowing just three hits and striking out eight over seven shutout innings.

“He was special again.  You look at his three starts in the playoffs, they’ve been special,” Manager Joe Girardi said.

The offense got to Astros starter Dallas Keuchel, who has previously given the Yankees trouble.  Keuchel left the game in the 5th inning after allowing four runs.

Gary Sanchez had an RBI single in the 5th and later added a solo homerun in the 7th.  Greg Bird, Aaron Judge and Didi Gregorious also had run scoring hits for the Yankees.

The Yankees can close out the series and advance to the World Series on Friday night in Houston.  Luis Severino will get the start for the Yankees, while the Astros will turn to Justin Verlander.

The Yankees haven't been to the World Series since 2009.
