Traffic problems are expected at the Holland Tunnel this week after a fire over the weekend.
A fire broke out on Friday night near an access ramp on the New Jersey side. That’s caused three of the five westbound lanes to be closed. There is concern that the congestion could backup traffic into the tunnel and possibly even into Manhattan during rush hour.
Officials said it could take weeks to fully repair the damage caused by the fire and reopen all the lanes. The Port Authority is adding rush hour trains to try and alleviate congestion. The agency is urging people to take mass transit or telecommute.
