Jury Selection Begins in Chelsea Bombing Trial

Jury selection begins on Wednesday for Ahmad Rahimi, who is accused of detonating explosive devices in Chelsea and on the Jersey Shore.

A bomb exploded in Chelsea in September 2016, injuring 29 people.  Earlier that same day, there was an explosion during a charity race in Seaside Park.

Rahimi is facing several terror offenses.  Jury selection is expected to take two days and opening arguments could take place on Monday.

Rahimi is also charged in a separate case for allegedly trying to kill Linden police officers.  He’s accused in a shootout with officers who confronted him in the aftermath of the bombings.
