A young girl is expected to be okay after she was hit by a foul ball at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The 2-year-old was hit in the bottom of the 5th inning by a ball that was hit by Yankees 3rd baseman Todd Frazier. He said he was “shaken up” by the situation, saying it was “tough to watch.”
“I thought of my kids. I have two kids under 3-years-old and I just hope she’s alright,” Frazier said.
The game was delayed for a few minutes while emergency personnel attended to the girl. She was then taken to the hospital.
The situation has once again led to a debate about whether there should be more protective netting around the ballpark. The Mets extended the protective netting at Citi Field earlier this season.
The Yankees are reportedly considering whether to expand the netting at their stadium.
