A 9-year-old boy is dead after a tragic accident during a soccer game in Manhattan.
Tommaso Cerase grabbed a goal post at Park West High School on Sunday when it collapsed and struck him in the head. Cerase may have been hanging from the goal post.
He was unresponsive and was brought to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. An investigation continues into the incident.
Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina issued a statement, calling this a âtragic incidentâ that is âheartbreaking.â She offered her thoughts for the studentâs family and his school community.
The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.
