Hurricane Irma is likely to slam into parts of Florida as a powerful storm this weekend.
Florida Governor Rick Scott is asking residents to be prepared to leave.
"If you're told to evacuate, get out quickly," he said Wednesday (via CNN). "We can expect additional evacuations as this storm continues to come near our state."
Hurricane watches have been issued in several parts of the state, especially along its eastern coast.
A storm surge watch has also been issued from the Jupiter Inlet to Bonita Beach and the Florida Keys.
Evacuations have been ordered in the state's Monroe and Broward counties.
The hurricane is expected to get close to Miami on Sunday.
Hurricane Irma is on course to hit Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas Thursday evening. as a Category 5 hurricane.
