Cuomo Won’t Endorse de Blasio

Governor Andrew Cuomo said he won’t endorse Mayor Bill de Blasio ahead of the New York City primary on September 12.

“I’m not voting in this election, so I don’t have any primary endorsements at this time,” Cuomo said.

Governor Cuomo lives in Westchester County, which means he isn’t eligible to vote in the New York City election.  However, the governor has previously made endorsements in city races.

The two Democrats have been engaged in a feud for much of de Blasio’s time in office.  Despite that, Mayor de Blasio endorsed Governor Cuomo’s re-election bid in 2014.

City Hall said it never asked for Governor Cuomo’s support.

Mayor de Blasio is being challenged by Sal Albanese for the Democratic nomination.  The two will debate on Wednesday night.
