A 22-year-old Queens man has been arrested for allegedly trying to join ISIS.
Parveg Ahmed was arrested on Monday after allegedly flying to Saudi Arabia in June. Authorities said he planned to travel into Syria to fight alongside ISIS, but was detained before getting there.
Ahmed also allegedly expressed support for ISIS on social media. Authorities also learned that he listened to recordings of radical terrorists. A search warrant uncovered even more evidence, including a browser history that included searches of ISIS controlled locations.
He is charged with attempting to provide material support to ISIS. If convicted he could face up to 20 years behind bars.
