The Mets lost their seventh game in eight tries falling 3-2 tonight in 10 innings to the Arizona Diamondbacks. During the game the team confirmed that they will be without Steven Matz for the remainder of the season.
MEDICAL UPDATE ON METS LHP STEVEN MATZ
FLUSHING, N.Y., August 21, 2017 - Mets LHP Steven Matz was examined today at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. Matz underwent an MRI and CT scan of his left elbow and also received an injection for diagnostic purposes.
Based on this examination, Matz was diagnosed with irritation of the ulnar nerve in his left elbow. Surgery has been recommended to re-position the nerve and eliminate the irritation. This surgery will be scheduled in the next several days.
