Construction Begins on A New Facility at LaGuardia

Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced that construction is beginning on a new $4 billion Delta facility at LaGuardia Airport.

The groundbreaking marks the start of construction on the final component of what’s been called an entirely new, unified airport.  Officials said it will provide traveler with state-of-the-art amenities and expanded public transportation options.

“We're going to build a new airport. It's going to be smarter, more efficient, and more effective than ever before,” Cuomo said.

The governor said the project will grow the economy now and in the future.  He said 16,000 people are helping build the airport and there are 20,000 indirect jobs.

It is going to be beautiful front door to New York. It's going to welcome 50 million tourists a year to New York. It's going to welcome business people to New York and it's exactly what New York deserves,” Cuomo said.
