Police Shooting Kills Emotionally Disturbed Man

An emotionally disturbed man is dead after a police involved shooting in Brooklyn on Monday.

Police were called to the home on New York Avenue just after noon after some kind of argument.  Officers used a Taser on 32-year-old Dwayne Jeune, after he charged at them with a carving knife.

Jeune was struck twice by the Taser but was able to fight through it.  At some point, one of the officers fell to the ground and Jeune was standing over him with the knife.

“A second police officer then fired at the individual, striking him.  The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene,” NYPD Chief of Patrol Terence Monahan said.

An investigation is continuing.
