Mets Leave San Diego on Sour Note with 7-5 Loss

The Mets dropped the series finale against the Padres 7-5 tonight at Petco Park. Chris Flexen made his MLB debut for the Mets and had a rough start to his major league career. 

Flexen allowed four runs, three earned over just three innings. He gave up just five hits, but walked four. 

Manuel Margot tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the first with a solo home run, he was the first batter that Flexen would face. Margot would later rip a 3-run double to put the Padres ahead 4-1. In the bottom of the fifth Dusty Coleman hit a 3-run homer to extend the Padre lead to 7-1. The Mets would battlee back as in the top of the seventh, Yoenis Cespedes drove in a run with an RBI double, then Asdrubal Cabrera was balked in before Jay Bruce made it 7-5 with a two run home run.

The Mets will now head to Seattle for a weekend series with the Mariners; Coverage on WOR begins at 6:05 pm with Pete McCathy and Sal Licata in the 'Sports Zone'.
