De Blasio Calls on Cuomo to Fix Subway Problems

Mayor Bill de Blasio is demanding that Governor Cuomo and MTA Chairman Joe Lhota fix the subway problems that have plagued the system.

De Blasio rode an “F” train on Sunday and accused the state of using the MTA like a piggy bank.

“I want to make sure straphangers know I’m fighting for their needs,” de Blasio said.

The mayor said Governor Cuomo needs to take responsibility.  He also rejected the idea that New York City needs to contribute more to the MTA.

“I’ve been surprised at this demand for more money.  We provide $2.5 billion.  They have not spent 90 percent of it,” de Blasio said.

Lhota called the mayor’s subway ride a photo op and said the subway system needs leadership.
