Q Train Derails in Brooklyn During Rush Hour

A Q train came off the rails in Brooklyn Friday morning shortly before 9 a.m., according to the MTA.

No injuries were reported, but the derailment suspended B trains between Broadway-Lafayette and Brighton Beach in both directions. The B is running between 145th Street and 2nd Avenue, reports Gothamist.

MTA spokesman Kevin Ortiz said the derailment occurred when the second set of wheels on the second car of the southbound Q trail came off the rails at the Brighton Beach B/Q station.

A reach train was deployed to remove customers from the train.

Riders were encouraged to take the C and D trains as alternatives in the Bronx and Manhattan, and the B16, B41 or B68 buses in Brooklyn.
