Severe storms will bring showers, damaging winds and lightning to the Tri-State area Wednesday afternoon, but the heavy rain won't help New Yorkers beat the heat.
The weather is expected to arrive in the New York City-area sometime after 2 p.m. with periods of heavy rain, wind, hail and lightning, which could make for a complicated rush hour.
The system is the same that flooded neighborhoods and blacked-out thousands in Chicago earlier in the week, reports NBC New York.
Highs are expected to climb to around 90 Wednesday and even higher Thursday.
More scattered storms are expected Thursday.
