Airport Worker Strike on Hold

Workers who walked off the job at the three New York City area airports have suspended their strike.

Hundreds of workers planned the strike because of a dispute with PrimeFlight, which is a subcontractor for United Airlines, Jet Blue and American Airlines.  The baggage handlers, cabin cleaners and security workers say their efforts to organize have been met with resistance.

Some airport workers walked off the job at Newark Airport on Tuesday night, with workers at JFK and LaGuardia also expected to join the strike.  However, they’re at work on Wednesday as negotiations continue.
