Funeral Held For Murdered NYPD Officer

A funeral was held on Tuesday for Miosotis Familia, the NYPD officer killed last week in an ambush-style attack.

Familia, 48, was sitting in a parked command post in the Bronx on July 5th when she was approached by a gunman and shot in the head.

Thousands of officers from around the country gathered at the World Changers Church in the Bronx, where mourners paid their final respects.  Familia was a 12-year veteran of the NYPD who leaves behind a 20-year-old daughter and 12-year-old twins.

Her killer, Alexander Bonds, was shot dead by responding officers.  He reportedly sought psychological help at St. Barnabas Hospital just days before the shooting.  Governor Cuomo has now ordered a review to ensure that all protocols and safeguards were followed.
