Mets drop series opener to Marlins 6-3

The Mets had their three game winning streak snapped at the hands of the Miami Marlins 6-3 tonight at Marlins Park.

New York got off to a quick start as Curtis Granderson hit his 11th home run of the season on just the second pitch of the game. However Robert Gsellman was shaky early, allowing three runs in the first inning off a Justin Bour single and a Martin Prado double.

Robert Gsellman exited the game in the 4th after injuring himself running out a grund ball. He is out indefinitely with a hamstring injury.

The Mets did battle back as Travis d'Arnaud hit an RBI single in the 4th and a solo home run in the 7th to tie the game.

In the bottom of the 7th Jerry Blevins would come into the game and promptly give Miami the lead as Ichiro Suzuki and Christian Yelich each singled to put three runs on the board, giving the Marlins a 6-3 lead that they would not relinquish.

The Mets continue the series in MIami tomorrow at 7:10. Coverage on WOR begins Friday at 6:05 pm with the WOR Sports Zone.
