Mets Drop Opener 8-3 to Nationals at Citi Field

The Nationals blew out the Mets 8-3 tonight at Citi Field in the opener of a four game weekend series.

Bryce Harper hit a first inning laser of a home run and the Nationals never looked back. Robert Gsellman allowed 7 runs on 11 hits over five innings in the loss for the Mets. Former Met Daniel Murphy had a two-run triple, and Michael Taylor homered in the win for Washington.

The Mets did get two solo home runs from Rene Rivera and Wilmer Flores, but it was no match for the might Nationals offense tonight. Game two of this four game set is set for Friday at 7:10 pm; Coverage on WOR underway at 6:05 pm with Pete McCarthy LIVE from the Citi Field Plaza.
