In a brilliant move, the NYPD and the Municipal Credit Union have decided to put bank ATM's in police station houses to cut back on robberies.
Currently, there are 5 ATM's in use in the 5 boroughs, 3 in Brooklyn, 1 in Manhattan, and another in Queens. The NYPD has plans to install ATM machines in all 98 police station houses.
Municipal Credit Union VP Corey Fernandes released a statement stating that police station houses now will become a place where people in the community can feel safe to do their banking at any hour of the day.
Officials from the NYPD and the Municipal Credit Union agree that the placement of the ATM's will offer neighborhood people a chance to get acquainted with police who patrol their community.
