Mets Hang on to Win Second Straight vs Angels; Reyes Picks Up 2,000th Hit

The Mets led 7-2 to heading in to the ninth inning and held on for a 7-5 win over the Angels tonight at Citi Field.

Jose Reyes had a big game for the Mets. He went 3/4 from the plate including his 2000th career hit in the first inning. Reyes drove in a pair of runs as did Neil Walker. Michael Conforto scored three times in the win.

Zack Wheeler picked up another win. He struck out five and walked five over five innings allowing just two runs on four hits. In the top of the ninth Neil Ramirez made his Mets debut and it was less than stellar. He allowed two hits and a walk before being removed from the game. All three runs that were scored in the ninth inning were charge to Ramirez. Addson Reed came on and picked up the save despite walking a batter and allowing an RBI singe to Kole Calhoun.

The Mets will look to sweep the Angels on Sunday afternoon with coverage on WOR underway at 12:05 with Pete McCarthy and 'Mets on Deck'.
