The NYPD were at the Brooklyn Ingersoll Houses yesterday to arrest Jamel Chandler and two other unidentified men for a robbery all three had allegedly participated in.
While the police were trying to gain entrance into the apartment, Chandler was fashioning a rope out of bed sheets in an attempt to rappel the 11 stories to the ground.
Mr. Chandler's escape attempt went well until the sheets gave way and he fell 7 stories to his death.
Moments before the 21-year-old's tragic fall, Chandler posted to Facebook that the police were knocking on his door.
Jamel Chandler was pronounced dead at The Brooklyn Hospital Center.
