A career criminal named Rafael Martinez tried to snatch a 4-month old girl from her mother and grandmother aboard the "J" train Sunday night at 11:00 pm in New York.
Witnesses say Martinez kept asking about the little girl until her mother and grandmother told him to leave them alone.
Martinez stood up to move, then suddenly grabbed the baby's stroller and started screaming "I want the baby" in Spanish.
One of the passengers on the train grabbed Martinez and held him until police could arrive.
Mr. Martinez has 30 previous arrests on his record including endangering the welfare of a child.
Police records show that Martinez has suffered from emotional problems for years.
