NJ Transit Train Derails at Penn Station

NJ Transit is reporting a minor derailment of one of its trains at Penn Station at around 8:50 a.m. Monday.

The derailment occurred on track 9. No injuries were reported and passengers were able to disembark on their own.

The agency suspended service in and out of Penn Station on several lines.

Midtown Direct trains were being diverted to Hoboken. Cross-honoring was in effect systemwide with NJ Transit buses and PATH.

Car 7727 derails while entering the station.

Police and FDNY responded to the scene.

The reason for the derailment is under investigation.
