Police: Suspect Wanted to Kill Black People

A man accused of stabbing a 66-year-old man to death in Midtown allegedly came to New York City to kill black people.

Police said 28-year-old James Jackson traveled from Maryland last week and then stabbed Timothy Caughman late Monday night.  Caughman stumbled into a police precinct and later died.

“It is believed that he was specifically intending to target male blacks for assault,” NYPD Chief William Aubry said.

Jackson turned himself into police on Wednesday.  Officers recovered two knives from Jackson, including a 26-inch mini sword.

“The reason why he picked New York is because it’s the media capital of the world and he wanted to make a statement,” Aubry said.
