Authorities have arrested several alleged members of the MS-13 gang for a series of crimes, including the murder of three teenagers.
“These were terribly heinous crimes and this is I think what a parent’s worst nightmare is,” U.S. Attorney Robert Capers said.
Among those killed were friends Kayla Cuevas and Nisa Mickens. Authorities said Cuevas was killed because she had feuded with members of the gang. Mickens was murdered because she was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“This day’s a celebration and also a sad day ‘cause Kayla’s not here,” Evenlyn Rodriguez, the mother of Cuevas, said.
Federal charges include racketeering and murder.
