Fire at Times Square Building

A 3-alarm fire burned through a building in Times Square on Tuesday morning.

It broke out in a restaurant of a building on Seventh Avenue and 48th Street just before 5 a.m.  The fire then apparently spread to other parts of the building.

Two minor injuries were reported.  During the fire, city officials urged people to close their windows and stay inside because of dangers from the smoke.

The fire caused part of Times Square to be closed, resulting in traffic detours.
