Knicks owner James Dolan and former player Charles Oakley met on Monday in an attempt to settle their differences.
The meeting was setup by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, who said it was “beyond disheartening” to see Dolan and Oakley not getting along. NBA legend Michael Jordan also participated in the meeting by phone.
Oakley was ejected from Madison Square Garden and arrested during a game last week after an altercation with security. Dolan later banned Oakley from the Garden.
“Both Mr. Oakley and Mr. Dolan were apologetic and the incident and subsequent comments, and their negative impact on the Knicks organization and the NBA. Mr. Dolan expressed his hope that Mr. Oakley would return to MSG as his guest in the near future,” Silver said.
