75-year-old Louise Hermida adopted a Mastiff to help protect her and her 39-year-old autistic son in their Queens home.
After having the dog in here home for a few days, Ms. Hermida decided the animal was too aggressive and made arraignments with the ASPCA to return the dog this morning.
Unfortunately, Ms. Hermida was attacked and fatally mauled by the dog at approximately 1:00 am this morning.
Neighbors heard the attack and called emergency services.
EMT's found Ms. Hermida unconscious in a pool of blood.
Ms. Hermida's son was transported to the hospital and treated for bites to his lower left leg.
He is listed in stable condition.
